5 Compact SUVs That are Bigger on the Inside

A compact SUV is a perfect balance between car and large SUV because it still provides an ample amount of space and power without sacrificing aspects like fuel efficiency. Here are five of the best compact SUVs that provide the roomiest cabins and pack a few bells and whistles as well.

1. 2019 Subaru Forester

The newest Subaru Forester has a lot to love including its passenger volume of 76.1 cubic feet. It already sounds huge, but you’ll be surprised when it feels like so much more room from the inside. At this size, it’s hard to believe that it’s a compact SUV. It starts at $24,295 and gets 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. It also comes with features such as all-wheel-drive, rearview camera, blind spot detective, high beam assist, and a powered lift-gate.

2. 2019 Honda CR-V

The CR-V, starting at $24,350, earned the top spot on US News & World Report’s "Best Affordable Compact SUVs" for good reason. Reviewers say that even though this vehicle is classified as a compact SUV, it still has 75.8 cubic feet of cargo space, and it feels like even more than that when you are inside. The CR-V also has five comfortably sized seats with an abundance of legroom, not to mention heated front seats and a dual-zone climate control system.

3. 2019 Nissan Rogue

The Rogue, starting at $24,920, has a very large cargo volume of 70 cubic feet and comfortable seating for up to seven passengers because of its extra third row of seats. It's rare for vehicles in this class to have that many seats, so this feature makes the Rogue a good choice for those who know they will be frequently carrying more than five people. The Rogue also has a Bose stereo system, and Around View, which gives you a 360-degree view of the car's surroundings when parking.

4. 2019 GMC Terrain

This popular compact SUV starts at a very reasonable $25,000, and it provides comfortable seating for five people in its 63.3 cubic feet of space. Reviewers say the Terrain offers significantly more front and backseat legroom than its competitors. It is also packed with features, such as a 7-inch touchscreen, a Pioneer audio system, and GMC’s IntelliLink infotainment system. We're also fans of this newest iteration of the Terrain's exterior design.

5. 2019 Mazda CX-5

What sets the CX-5 apart is that many reviewers have said this compact SUV is without a doubt the most fun to drive. This vehicle starts at only $24,350, seats five passengers, and has 59.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The CX-5 also boasts a Bose Surround Sound System with nine speakers, so all passengers will have equal- quality entertainment, no matter where they’re seated. While it doesn't have the largest cargo volume, we find it to be our #1 compact crossover SUV overall!
