Top 5 Kia Models of 2017

Kias are known for being affordable and loaded with standard features. The 2017 models are priced to sell and come with more tech than ever. Are you ready to see Kia’s top vehicles for the year?

2017 Kia Forte

The Kia Forte LX is a compact sedan with an inexpensive starting MSRP of $16,600. Even at this low price, it comes with features like Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, auxiliary inputs, hands-free controls, remote keyless entry with trunk opener, and four total speakers. Because it’s a compact, it also gets great gas mileage at 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. (This bumps up to 29/38 in an automatic.) This year sees a new 2.0L engine, and optional features like the rare-in-class automatic emergency braking.

2017 Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is a great SUV for driving around town or driving up into the mountains for a weekend getaway. This model comes with keyless remote entry, satellite radio, CD player, six speakers, auxiliary jack input, and Bluetooth connectivity. The best thing about the Kia Sportage is that it is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) 2016 top safety pick (when equipped with optional front crash prevention), meaning it scored high on each crash test rating conducted by the organization. The gas mileage for this SUV is estimated at 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The LX Front-wheel drive has a starting MSRP of $23,200. This year's model adds room in the back seat and smooths out the ride.

2017 Kia Sorento

For a little more space than the Sportage, you can get the Kia Sorento L. It has a higher base MSRP of $25,600 but also has more standard features than the Sportage. It has remote keyless entry, a CD player, six total speakers, satellite radio, auxiliary jack, Bluetooth connectivity with deeper phone integration than ever, storage above and below the console, and steering-wheel controls. Despite the size, gas mileage doesn’t drop significantly as the Sorento gets 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Like the Sportage, the Sorento is also a top safety pick with the IIHS.

2017 Kia Rio

The Rio is one of the most affordable options that Kia has to offer with a starting MSRP of $14,165. It would be difficult to find a compact sedan at a lower price from competitors. The Rio comes with a CD player, satellite radio, four speakers, and auxiliary jack. The small size gives it the best fuel economy of any other vehicle on the list at 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway for the manual version of the base model.

2017 Kia Niro

The Kia Niro is a new compact crossover with hybrid capabilities, which means vastly better gas mileage - to the tune of 50 mpg, which is nice for any car, but insane for an SUV. After a few years of teasing us with concepts, we finally have a production version of the Niro.

The base-model Niro FE starts at an MSRP of $22,890. The Niro transports the driver in comfort with plenty of room in for extra cargo. It comes standard with a sound-absorbing front windshield, which can make a surprising amount of difference in a hybrid, where the lack of engine noise can mean you pay more attention to the sounds around you. One thing, though - f you want extras like heated seats and steering wheel, you'll have to bump up to a nicer version like the EX.

The Niro's audio system defaults to 6 speakers, though the touring has a Harman Kardon sound system with 8 speakers and an integrated subwoofer. Safety features like a rear-camera display are standard, and sensing features like forward collision warning and lane departure warnings are available on the LX, EX, and Touring. All in all, this is a cool hybrid with a sleek look and radically efficient gas mileage.
