Which 2017 Buick Verano is Right for You?

The 2017 Buick Verano offers affordable luxury, even at the least expensive trim. But if you do upgrade to a pricier Verano, what exactly do you get? This detailed guide takes a look at all the standard features of the Verano, Sport Touring, and Leather. The rest comes down to your priorities.

Verano

The Verano is the base trim for this Buick model. It has a starting MSRP of $21,065 and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 180hp.

The exterior of the Verano comes with 17-inch alloy wheels with a Sterling Silver finish and all-season tires. The acoustic-laminated glass is designed to decrease noise. Solar-absorption in the glass also helps keep the cabin cool during the summer. Aside from feature-heavy glass, the exterior also includes bright moldings for curb appeal, a compact spare wheel, daytime running lamps, body-color door handles, and automatic on and off halogen composite projector beam headlamps.

The interior focuses on comfort, but doesn’t provide anything out of the ordinary for an average sedan. The features include eight-way manual driver seat adjuster, a six-speaker audio system, AM/FM radio with a CD player, ambient lighting, and USB ports for iPod connectivity. The base Verano also includes an auxiliary input jack for Androids, but lacks Bluetooth connectivity.

The safety features are a little lacking. The Verano includes 10 airbags, daytime running lights, OnStar 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, StabiliTrak, a trunk emergency release handle, and a tire pressure monitor. In the era of collision detection and lane warnings, that seems a little light.

Sport Touring

The Sport Touring is the next step up. It starts at $24,115, but comes with enough upgrades to make the price worth it. It also includes pretty much every major feature from the base model, and then some. The Sport Touring sits higher on 18-inch machined alloy wheels with black pockets. It increases visibility with front halogen fog lamps, and adds heated power-adjustable mirrors.

The interior also sees some significant improvements from the basic Verano. You get a a seven-inch diagonal touch-screen color display, IntelliLink with SiriusXM satellite radio, heated front driver and passenger seating, interior rearview auto-dimming mirror, remote vehicle starter, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Drivers will also notice that the Sport Touring includes Bluetooth connectivity.

The Sport Touring takes a fair step up from the basic Verano in terms of safety. It includes things like rear park assist and a rear vision camera. Customers that are looking for a little more can add options like side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alerts, and forward collision warnings at an extra cost.

Leather

The 2017 Buick Verano Leather focuses on improving comfort, which is fantastic for those that spend a lot of time in their vehicle.  The Leather trim goes for a starting MSRP of $26,555 and includes just about everything the Sport Touring does and more. For example, it adds a Bose premium sound system to make that morning rush-hour drive a little better. Additionally, the steering wheel is leather-wrapped and heated for those cold winter mornings.  It gets a little extra flair on the wheels. Finally, it also has keyless entry as long as the key fob is within range.

The Leather trim may not be worth it if you aren’t looking for the best sound system, especially since there aren’t any improvements to the safety features. Customers still have the option of upgrading and customizing, which is where Buick really shines.
