Which 2018 Dodge Ram Large Cab Model Is Right For You?

Need more room in your 2018 Dodge Ram? The Quad and Crew Cab may be the best option for your workload. These trim levels are only available on the larger cab options for the Dodge Ram. If you're looking for something a little cheaper, explore the trim options for small cab models.

Quad vs. Crew Cab

All trucks have different cab options, which can give you more legroom and cargo space. The Crew and Quad Cab are two of the larger options. Between the two, the Crew Cab gives you a little more rear leg room at approximately 39-inches while the Quad provides about 34-inches of leg room. However, the Quad Cab allows more cargo space with the length topping out at 76-inches. The Crew Cab offers 67-inches of exterior cargo length. Overall, the Quad Cabs are more expensive than the Crew Cabs.

Lone Star Silver

The Dodge Ram Lone Star Silver is the cheapest large cab option at $39,195 for a Crew Cab. This model isn’t available as a Quad Cab. With this truck, you’ll get a 3.6-liter V6 engine, a max towing capacity of 10,330 pounds, and a payload capacity of 1,820 pounds.

What makes the Lone Star Silver unique is the special badges throughout, but those isn’t the only thing that makes this trim great. On the interior, the Lone Star Silver has power 10-way driver seating, power lumbar adjustment, and an under-seat storage compartment.

The multimedia system comes complete with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display that can control SiriusXM (with subscription), Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and more. The trim integrates USB ports, auxiliary jacks, and Bluetooth connectivity so you can play music or receive directions from your phone navigation app.

Harvest

The Harvest trim is the next option and can be either Crew or Quad Cab. The Crew Cab starts at $40,310, while the Quad Cab has an MSRP of $41,360. Both trims are very similar with the exception of a different cab. This trim also comes with the 3.6-liter engine and has the same capabilities as the Lone Star Silver. However, if you want more power, you can upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI at an additional cost.

On the inside, the seats are made of premium cloth for the most comfort. Like the Lone Star Silver, the driver seat also has 10-way power seating and power lumbar support so you can get the perfect fit. The most significant difference can be found on the inside, where drivers get five years of SiriusXM radio with traffic updates and travel link service. On top of that, the Harvest comes with Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch display.

The Harvest also differs because it’s designed to go off-road better than the Lone Star Silver. It comes equipped with off-road tires that can help keep you in control no matter where you go. Some other exterior features include a black tubular side step and spray-in bed liner.

Laramie

The Laramie is the only other trim that comes as a Crew and Quad Cab option. The Crew Cab costs $42,145, and the MSRP for the Quad Cab is $43,645. This trim also comes with the 3.6-liter V6 engine so you can expect the same capabilities.

The Laramie is a luxurious option, which is ideal if you spend several hours in your truck every day. One of the best additions is leather seating with front heating and ventilation. No matter the season, you’ll always be comfortable. To add to this, the steering wheel is also heated. All this goes perfectly with the wood grain accents all around the inside of the cabin.

One thing to note in the Laramie is that you will lose the SiriusXM trials, but gain a 9-Alpine sound system with speakers and subwoofer. The all-season tires return, as well, which makes the Laramie best for paved roads.

Rebel

The Dodge Ram Rebel is the first trim that includes an engine upgrade as standard. For $45,295, the Rebel comes with a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI MDS VVT engine. In addition to this, the Rebel is designed to go off-road thanks to the standard off-road package, meaning nowhere is off-limits for your truck.

Because the Rebel focuses on off-road capabilities, it does away with some of the premium features of the Laramie, including the leather seating. This trim comes with premium cloth seating with an embossed thread pattern. It also has a full length upgraded floor console, six speakers and Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch display.

Laramie Longhorn

The Laramie Longhorn is a Crew Cab that starts at $50,095 and improves on the Laramie. The Laramie Longhorn comes with the powerful 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine, which gives you a maximum towing of 8,180 pounds and a 1,652-pound payload.

The heated and ventilated seats return in the Laramie Longhorn, but with two upgrades: premium filigree leather seats and a premium leather-wrapped steering wheel. This trim also gets a unique instrument cluster, Longhorn accents, and luxury floor mats. The SiriusXM multimedia features make a return as well as the 9-Alpine speakers and subwoofer.

Limited

As great as the other trims are, it’s hard to beat the Limited. With a starting MSRP of $53,295, this trim leaves the others in the dust. It comes with the V8 HEMI engine and adds quality features. Drivers may immediately notice that the interior uses premium Limited leather seating, which special badges throughout. It also has a Laramie Limited instrument cluster that looks different from any other Dodge Ram trim.

On the exterior, the Limited has body colored fascia and badges that make it a special sight. There’s no mistaking this trim whether it’s driving down the road or showing up at a worksite.
