The 2019 Ford Edge is designed for those who want something between the Escape and the Explorer. With room for five passengers, this mid-size, two-row crossover offers plenty of space in the cabin for a family or a weekend warrior just looking to hang out with a few friends. We’re comparing each of the trims to figure out what the Ford Edge really has going for it.
SE
The 2019 Ford Edge begins its trim lineup with the SE, which starts at $29,995. It has enough seating for five passengers, which is ideal for families. The SE uses a 2.0L EcoBoost engine that gets up to 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
The interior is perfect for long road trips or Sunday trips to the grocery store. It comes with an overhead console with a holder for sunglasses, four 12-volt power points, power door locks with an auto-lock feature, battery saver, cargo net, liftgate assist handle, and more. It also comes with one smart charging USB port and Intelligent Access with push-button start.
The safety features include the Personal Safety System. This places sensors all throughout the cabin to help determine the best course of action during an accident. Some other safety features included are the SOS Post-Crash Alert System, Belt-Minder, Rearview Camera, and Side-Impact Airbags with Rollover Sensor.
SEL
The SEL trim starts at $33,090. It comes with the same 2.0L EcoBoost engine as the SE. On the inside, the SEL adds a few features that make this trim level much more enjoyable to drive.
One of the main additions is the leather-wrapped steering wheel with cruise, secondary audio, and five-way controls. This allows you to control features without removing your hands from the wheel. Some other things in the update include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, SiriusXM radio, and power front seating.
Titanium
The Titanium is the next trim, and it starts at $38,550. If the SEL doesn’t have enough convenience for you, the Titanium is your dream come true. It adds a better infotainment system and some key features that may be necessary for a busy person.
On the inside, the Titanium has some significant upgrades that include a hands-free, foot-activated liftgate. This allows you to access your trunk without putting down what you’re carrying. The Edge Titanium also features an upgraded infotainment system that includes Sync 3, which has an easy-to-use design, enhanced voice recognition, and available navigation with easy destination entry.
Along with this infotainment system, the Titanium also comes with Sony’s 12-speaker audio system for superior sound all around the cabin. The Titanium also adds heated front seating, an extra smart charging USB port, and leather sport bucket seats.
ST
Lastly, the ST trim is what you crave if power is your main concern. It starts at $42,355 and comes with an upgraded engine. The 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine is capable of 335 horsepower as well as 380 lb.-ft. of torque. Keep in mind that this will drop your fuel economy to an estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. In addition to the new motor, you’ll also get standard intelligent all-wheel-drive with the ST trim.
The seating in the ST trim also changes from leather to leather-trimmed with Miko suede inserts. In addition to this, the outside adds a bit of flair with a gloss black-painted mesh grille with ST logo and Bi-LED Low and High beam Headlamps.
