31 Stars Who Drive Vintage Cars

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. has amassed considerable wealth as a result of his association with Marvel and his performance as Iron Man. As a form of self-reward, he likes to buy classic and vintage automobiles. He has bought at least two dozen since he first appeared on the big screen as Iron Man.

One of his favorites is his 1965 Corvette Stingray. He also owns a 1970s Mustang, a 1970s Mercedes-Benz, an Audi R7 and R8, and so many more. Next on Robert Downey Jr. list? A GTI, but he says he can’t afford it just yet. Give it some time, Iron man..

George Clooney

George Clooney

While Clooney certainly loves cars, his favorite auto in his collection was not purchased. Instead, it’s a family heirloom. His father, Nick Clooney, purchased a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette V8 C1 convertible in cherry red when he was a young man. Eventually, Nick passed down his beloved car to his son, George.

Clooney owns a vast number of many other vintage cars, including a Porsche Carrera and a two-seater Tango 600, but that isn’t all. This star is also a fan of motorcycles, and he has quite the collection. However, it’s obvious why he takes the 1958 Corvette out for a drive when he can.

David Letterman

David Letterman

Now that David Letterman is retired, he has plenty of time to do what he wants. For him, that means racing and collecting vintage cars. In fact, Letterman owns some of the most sought-after vehicles in automotive history, including eight Ferraris, six Porsches, three Austin Healeys, and so many more.

The Jaguar XK140 this man purchased in 1955 is one of his prized possessions. Although the car cost a considerable penny back then, what is its current market value today? More than $130,000 was spent on Letterman's XK140. To put a price tag on Letterman's collection, it would cost more than $2.5 million.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren is without a doubt one of the world's most well-known fashion designers. It is because of the successful profession he has made for himself, he is able to follow his second hobby, which is cars. Lauren has a large automotive collection, which includes supercars, sports cars, luxury autos, historic cars, and many others.

One of his most famous vehicles is a 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster. This car is just one of five Jags in his collection, but he took a special shine to this one. It has a custom paint job, one he created himself called “British Racing Green with a twist.”

Beyoncé Knowles

Beyoncé Knowles

Anyone who knows Beyoncé knows that she isn’t one to skip out on luxury. She’s gotta have the best of the best, and no one will stand in her way. While she’s starting to build her collection of classic cars, one of her most famous vehicles includes a 1959 Rolls-Royce Convertible Silver Cloud.

On the occasion of Knowles's 25th birthday, her husband, Jay-Z, presented her with the car as a gift. Additionally, Jay-Z possesses a collection of costly automobiles that is estimated to be worth $15 million in total. Beyoncé's Rolls-Royce alone is worth a million dollars, and that's just by its lonesome self.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey is frequently spotted driving reasonable, family-friendly vehicles such as a GMC Yukon XL or a Lincoln MKX. However, he possesses much more than that. In addition, McConaughey has a strong and persistent love of racing. His favourite fast automobile is a 1981 Camaro Z28, which was also his first car.

Furthermore, Matthew McConaughey used to be the happy owner of a 1971 Corvette Stingray, but he sold it on eBay in 2006. Instead of keeping any of the money, he donated the entire amount, $61,600, to Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network to aid in the relief efforts for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Eric Bana

Eric Bana

Who could blame actors if they shared their passion for high speeds behind the wheel? Eric Bana, an Australian superstar, has always been interested in auto racing. His preferred mode of transport is not the "practical car" (his words, not ours) he uses to get around Melbourne on a regular basis.

His heart actually belongs to his 1974 Ford Falcon XB. This coupe is fondly known as “The Beast” and has been something Bana has wanted since the 1977 Bathurst (a big motor race in Australia). Eric Bana loves his Beast so much that he directed a documentary, Love the Beast, about his relationship with the car.

The documentary also shows his terrifying crash in 2007 when the car was nearly destroyed.

Jay Leno

Jay Leno

Anyone familiar with Jay Leno knows how much he enjoys the hobby of car collecting. It's hard to think of another famous person whose name is as inextricably linked to vintage automobiles as this one is. The value of the ex-Tonight Show host's collection has been put at more than $52 million.

Naturally, he drives quite a few of them on a regular basis. While some of them are worth noting, like his 1955 Buick Roadmaster and 1967 Chevy C10, the one we’re most impressed with is his 1909 Baker Electric. Leno claims that it’s the only vehicle he owns that’s maintenance-free because it’s so high quality.

Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld is another celeb that’s completely renowned for his hecka vast car collection. He often shows off his vintage collection on his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Before then, many people didn’t know he had such a love for cars, but the cat’s out of the bag now!

Jerry Seinfeld’s collection is certainly huge, but some cars stand out amongst the others. The one we love to see the most is the 1959 Porsche 718 RSK. It was the 19th one ever made, and it was the speedster designed to show that small cars with a small engine can pack a lot of punch.

Kate Moss

Kate Moss

Kate Moss is widely regarded as one of the most stunning and successful models of all time. She should drive a matching car, but alas, that is not the case. Kate Moss has taken to cruising around in a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud from 1964, unquestionably one of the ugliest models available.

Despite the fact that the automobile's outward design is probably somewhat dated, classic car fans continue to like this brand and model. There is a chance that Kate Moss is more knowledgeable about cars than she lets on. She is one well-known individual who prefers to keep quiet about the things she has, for sure.

Tim Allen

Tim Allen

Tim Allen may be a funny man on Home Improvement, but he takes his car passion very seriously. Those with a keen eye may actually recognize some cars that were featured on the show, including a 1933 Ford Roadster and a 1946 Ford. However, that’s just the start of his collection.

Tim Allen also owns a 1965 Shelby Cobra, 1996 Impala SS, and a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro 427 COPO. Allen has been in love with cars ever since he was a child, so we’re guessing his Hot Wheels collection was just as impressive at age eight as his current classic car collection is today.

Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul

Aaron Paul is most famous for his portrayal of Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, but he’s starting to make a name for himself in other shows. After he won two Emmys for his role as Pinkman, Paul started to really roll in the dough, and one of his first major purchases was a 1965 Shelby Cobra.

Aaron Paul also stared in Need for Speed, where he performed his own stunts. He spent months practicing on the tracks. After the movie wrapped, DreamWorks gave Paul the 1968 Gran Torino he drove in the film. Maybe next will be an El Camino from the Netflix movie, which capped off Jesse Pinkman’s story.

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck may make hit-or-miss films, but his car choice is always superb. When he played the iconic role of Batman, he had a chance to drive the Batmobile. Unfortunately, the car was a little short for his 6’4” stature. The original concept had to be enlarged 110% just to fit him.

While the Batmobile was amazing, Affleck prefers to drive his very own classic cars. His favorite car is a 1966 Chevelle SS 396. While it’s true, it's already a muscle car, Affleck had some of his own work done so that the powerful eight-cylinder engine would be even more of a beast.

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is notorious for making extravagant purchases, some of which border on the insanity spectrum. On one occasion, he engaged in a bidding battle with Leonardo DiCaprio for a T-Rex skull that was up for auction at the Natural History Museum in Manhattan. The skull was going for $276,000 at the time.

One of his more reasonable buys include a 1971 Lamborghini Miura SVJ who wouldn’t want one of those? Well, wait a second. The Lambo was owned by a former Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Cage bid by phone and won the auction for the car, which cost $446,820.

Adam Levine

Adam Levine

It isn't too much of a surprise that Adam Levine actually is a collector of old vehicles because he appears like the kind of man who would collect classic cars. To tell you the truth, he also possesses a decent amount of taste when pinking cars too. His 1958 Porsche 356A is one of the items he holds most dear to his heart.

As a result of spending a lot of time with his Porsche-loving uncle, Levine has developed an obsession with the brand to the exclusion of all other makes and models. Levine is also one of the very few people who are given the opportunity to market new, and top of the line Porsches.

Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell

We’re not saying this is the best car on the list, nor is it the oldest (that honor goes to Leno). That being said, this is a classic piece of American history. Instead of driving around something expensive, Colin Farrell prefers to get his errands done in his 1987 Ford Bronco.

Sure, it has OJ vibes (it's not the same year, but again whatever), but Farrell love-loves the thing. Unlike some others on the list, this one isn’t expensive and doesn’t look like it’s in great shape, but it’s nice to know some stars drive junkers, like the rest of us people.

Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw is undeniably one of the most famous country singers out there. What many people don’t know is that his father was also pretty popular. Tug McGraw was a Mets player, and the Mets won the 1969 World Series. McGraw got a $10,000 bonus, and he used most of it to buy a 1969 Mercedes Convertible.

Years later, the car would eventually be handed down to Tim McGraw, who is his son. The truth of the matter is that Tim's brother got his hands on it first and pretty well ruined it. After purchasing the vintage automobile, Tim painstakingly returned it to its original condition; now that's love.

Billy Gibbons

Billy Gibbons

Gibbons was obviously going to be on the list. ZZ Top’s frontman has made it very clear he loves classic cars, but one has captured his heart in particular. His 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Sedanette. This Cadillac has been dubbed the CadZZilla. It’s been an icon in the custom hot rod industry since it debuted in 1989.

Larry Erickson, one of Cadillac's head designers, was responsible for the rendering of the redesigned car, which featured a body resembling a lead sledge. Gibbons paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $900,000 for the automobile, but for him, that was a negligible amount to pay for the famed CadZZilla.

James Hetfield

James Hetfield

Metallica frontman James Hetfield also loves classic cars, though his collection mostly consists of hot rods. You know what? That’s pretty fitting for him. Most of them are customized in one way or another, including his 1936 Ford Coupe, aka Iron Fist, and his 1934 Packard, aka the Aquarius.

The Iron Fist has undergone extensive upgrades and has been reimagined to be a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle. The body is exposed metal, which draws attention to the Coupe's myriad one-of-a-kind details. With its lift-off hardtop and windscreen in the form of a DuVall, the Aquarius has an almost futuristic appearance.

Patrick Dempsey

Patrick Dempsey

Patrick Dempsey has done a lot since he first started acting, but his real paychecks began to roll in when he starred in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. After that, his name was on the map, and we began to learn more about him. Part of that was that he was the owner of Dempsey Racing and is a competitive racer.

While he owns his share of race cars, Dempsey also has a number of cars for off the track, including a 1972 Jaguar E-Type and a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE. That being said, his first love was his 1963 Porsche 356. Dempsey said he bought it for $10,000, and it was his daily car for 15 years.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger

The former Governor of California, is known for his extensive collection of vintage automobiles. His collection includes a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a Hummer H1, a Bentley Continental GTC, and even an M47 Patton Tank, which is reflective of the wide range of automotive interests he has as well as his larger-than-life demeanour.

Arnold purchased the M47 Patton Tank for a charity event, despite the fact that the tank had originally been manufactured to aid in the fighting in the Korean War. And The theme of the event? Crushing cars. It seems that for him, collecting old automobiles may be considered both a passion and a sport.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga

Most of the men on this list can't hold a candle to Lady Gaga's collection of classic automobiles. A Porsche Boxter, a Mint Blue Chevy Nova SS, a Ford Bronco, a 1965 Lincoln Continental, and a Chevrolet El Camino are just some of the vehicles she keeps in her garage.

Lady Gaga has a penchant for classic cars, adding to her varied taste. In 2016, while promoting her fifth studio album, Joanne, she briefly owned Elvis Presley's classic pink coupe Cadillac de Ville. Even though she sold the car on eBay, it was a testament to her knack for the dramatic.
