The Paris Auto Show is when car manufacturers show off the brand new versions of their vehicles, brand-new models, and astonishing concept cars. This year’s roundup was exceptional, and that doesn’t even do these cars justice. These are some of the best vehicles of the 2016 Paris Auto Show.
Volkswagen I.D.
The Paris Auto Show saw a lot of electric vehicles and one of the most impressive was the Volkswagen I.D. concept. Volkswagen claims that the VW I.D. gets a range of 249 to 373 miles and can be charged wirelessly, which is a step up from many electric cars on the market. You can also plug in your I.D. to improve charge time. Volkswagen claims that you can charge the battery as much as 80% in as little as 30 minutes. It’s also the first fully autonomous Volkswagen, but with all these improvements, it won’t be available for purchase until 2025.
Land Rover Discovery Mk5
The new Land Rover arrives in early 2017 for an initial price of around $56,000. The new model is designed to give you a luxury feel without compromising what customers love about the Discovery. It still has a substantial towing capacity of 3,500 kg, and despite its look, it can still handle going off-road. The cabin is incredibly spacious and has improved seating configurations to give you more space without compromising occupant seating. All front seats can be lowered and raised electronically using the central touchscreen or the smartphone app. Some of the best technological features include a touch screen of up to 10 inches, nine USB ports, and four 12-volt charging ports.
Mercedes-AMG GT
The Mercedes-AMG GT was revealed this September but made its first debut at this year’s Paris Auto Show. The engine is a strong 4.0-liter V8 engine that gives you 456 bph in the GT and 503 bph in the GT-S, making it clear that the power was the most important feature for this sporty car. You’re going to pay for that performance, though, to the tune of around $125,000- $154,000. The five models choices include a hard and soft top.
Honda Civic
The Honda Civic Hatchback released at the Paris Auto Show and proved that even the most lightweight of cars could get 16kg lighter. This model was designed to improve handling and response time to allow the driver a more engaging experience. The Civic is lower to the ground, longer, and wider than its predecessors, and Honda claims it will have more room inside than ever before. Other changes include the dials being replaced by a thin-film-transistor display that can be completely customized to include speed and fuel economy. Unlike some of the other vehicles in the show, this Honda Civic hatchback is already on sale for $19,700.
Hyundai RN30
Hyundai definitely stole the show with the RN30. This concept car is motorsport-focused with a base similar to the i30, but with a little bit more drama. It has a unique variable exhaust system and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 375 bhp and 451 Nm of torque. The inside's built for racing - bucket seats, a roll cage, and full harnesses. It comes equipped with a set of cameras inside and out to show off your best laps. The debut of Hyundai's N-division is probably sportier than the production car will be, but we'll get a better look when the i30 comes out next year.
