The 2024 Honda Accord is a mid-size sedan with a spacious interior and user-friendly features that make it an incredible option for families. At around $32K, it’s on the higher end of its segment price-wise, but you’ll end up saving quite a bit at the pump.The vehicle gets up to 51 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway, thanks to its 204-horsepower powertrain. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors combine to deliver all-around satisfying performance.

Honda Civic

Honda Civic

Honda’s most popular compact car will return in 2024 as the 2025 Honda Civic. While the full details have not yet been released, it will feature a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine that should deliver around 158 horsepower.  

It will likely start at around $30K and will be a popular choice among drivers looking to save dozens per month on gasoline costs.

Honda CR-V

Honda CR-V

One of Honda’s most popular SUV models, the Honda CR-V hybrid offers the same high-quality cabin and fantastic features CR-V drivers love.

Like the Accord, it features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motor powertrain generates a combined 204 horsepower. Fuel economy numbers are not the same as those of the Accord, however, given its size and weight. The CR-V gets up to 43 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra is still spacious and handles well, even if the interior is not as luxurious as the Civic. While it is somewhat lacking in power with its 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor, the fuel economy will appeal to many drivers, nonetheless.

The Elantra gets up to 51 mpg in the city and 58 mpg on the highway. The 2024 Hyundai Elantra starts at around $26K.

Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai Sonata

Starting at around $28K, the Hyundai Sonata features a nicer interior and more features than the basic Elantra. It also features a superior powertrain. Its 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor generate 192 horsepower.

Getting 50 mpg in the city and 54 mpg on the highway, its fuel economy is comparable to the Elantra.

Toyota Corolla

Toyota Corolla

One of the most reliable and safest vehicles on the market today, the Toyota Corolla is a fantastic vehicle for your daily commutes. It also has a long list of safety and convenience features at a price point under $25K.

While its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors generate 138 horsepower, similar to the Elantra, you’ll get around 53 mpg in the city and 46 mpg on the highway.

Toyota Camry

If you find the performance of the Corolla lacking, you likely won’t find its mid-size cousin, the Camry to be the same. It features a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that output a combined 208 horsepower.

Like the Corolla, it boasts a comfortable interior and comes packed with features. Best of all, it gets 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway. It starts at $28K.

Kia Sportage

Kia Sportage

Also starting at $28K, the Kia Sportage has the whole package. You’ll get powerful performance, luxurious features and a fantastic fuel economy all-in-one. Its turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor generate a combined 227 horsepower, while getting 42 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.

Although those numbers might not seem as impressive out of context, the Sportage happens to be a larger vehicle, a compact SUV with up to 73.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

Lexus NX

Lexus NX

The Lexus NX is one luxury hybrid option that offers all the kinds of convenience features you’d expect of its class and optimum performance to go along with it. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motor hybrid powertrain outputs 240 horsepower while getting 41 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

So, if you’re willing to sacrifice some fuel efficiency for zippier performance, the Lexus NX may be worth the $43K for you.

Porsche Cayenne

Porsche Cayenne

Another luxury hybrid SUV, the Porsche Cayenne, costs nearly double what the Lexus NX does. But its performance is unbeatable in every regard. It features a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that combines with an electric motor to generate 463 horsepower, allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in under 5 seconds.

Fuel economy numbers are not provided by Porsche but the 2023 numbers were estimated to be around the equivalent of 46 mpg city/highway combined.
