Top 10 Luxury Sedans of 2018

Now is the time to buy a luxury sedan. They’re incredibly comfortable and getting more affordable by the year.

It’s hard to know which commit to, but we’ve found some of the best sedans that are just as comfortable as your recliner. Here we present the captains of comfort!

1. 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia

As the only luxury sedan from Alfa Romeo in the U.S., the Giulia has a lot riding on its shoulders. Thanks to its sporty acceleration, capable handling, and high safety scores, it's more than up to the task. The best part, however, is that all of it comes in a package with a starting MSRP of $38,195. Even if the phrase "affordable luxury" sounds like an oxymoron, the Alfa Romeo Giulia proves it's not, which is probably why it was crowned 2018 Motor Trend Car of the Year.

2. 2018 Tesla Model S

The Tesla Model S is designed to be one of the safest sedans on the road. In fact, it owns one of the highest safety standard ratings ever recorded! And even though it’s an electric car, it can go from 0 to 60 in just 2.5 seconds. The base model is a little pricey at $77,000 MSRP, but if you want the features that make a Tesla...well...a Tesla, then you'll want to add on the Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability packages. Together, those cost an additional $8,000.

3. 2018 Audi A5 Sportback

Audi makes the top 10 list with two different models. We rank the A5 Sportback more superior. With a starting MSRP at $42,600, this luxury sedan is equipped with plenty of standard features that you come to expect in this segment, as well as a robust engine that produces 252 horsepower. Audi's quattro-branded all-wheel-drive allows for industry-leading precision handling, and we're also a fan of the smart and stylish interior.

4. 2018 Kia Stinger

It's time to let go of your preconceptions because you read that correctly. A Kia makes this list and ranks highly on it. The 2018 Kia Stinger was one of the most surprising new cars of the year because of just how good it is coming from an under-the-radar brand that we didn't expect. The twin-turbo V6 engine is zippy, and Kia's stylish racing concept designs largely made it to the production line. With a starting MSRP of only $31,900, The Kia Stinger is closing in on its European competition, though it has a couple areas to work on, namely interior fit and finish.

5. 2018 Genesis G90

Kia's South Korean cousin (Hyundai is a minority shareholder in the brand) also makes the top 10 list with their relatively new all-luxury marque, Genesis. The full-size luxury sedan Genesis G90 receives high marks for a laundry list of standard features (something of a trademark from Hyundai), impressive safety ratings, and a quiet cabin. Those standard features include 7.0-inch driver display, 17-speaker surround audio system, tri-zone climate controls, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, and an array of automated safety features all for a starting MSRP of $68,350.

6. 2018 Audi A4

Not only is the Audi A4 loved by car enthusiasts and reviewers (as evidenced by high ratings from Car and Driver and U.S. News & World Report), but it also ranked at the top of Kelly Blue Book's customer satisfaction ratings. It truly is a crowd pleaser. Plus, its upscale, mature cabin interior has a surprisingly good infotainment system that isn't heavy on the bloatware. Heated seats are now standard for the 2018 model with an MSRP of $36,000. Safety features like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition are optional upgrades.

7. 2018 BMW 5-Series

BMW's 5-Series was brand new for 2017 so there aren't major cosmetic differences for the 2018 calendar year. The starting MSRP is a hair more expensive at $53,400, but that features a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine that can race from 0-60 mph in 6 seconds flat. Under the hood is where things are truly new this time around, as the 5-Series now has choices for plug-in electric hybrid engines (at a premium price, of course) for the first time that allow drivers to travel up to 16 miles on electric power alone.

8. 2018 Cadillac ATS

The Cadillac ATS competes against big names like Mercedes-Benz and BMW, but it’s still a great seller for one reason: it’s a fantastic luxury sedan. The 2017 model was great, and the 2018 Cadillac ATS continues the trend by offering amazing safety ratings, a plethora of standard features, and a range of powerful engines for every horsepower enthusiast. Where it doesn't rank as highly is the laggy on-board infotainment UI. We suggest sticking to the more intuitive and responsive Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It's starting MSRP is $35,495.

9. 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The current generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class launched with the 2015 year model. For 2018, it received an updated facelift. The performance is as refined as ever, and the vehicle has extensive safety technology to keep the driver secure. On top of that, the interior is comfortable and luxurious all while producing a smooth, quiet ride. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has a starting MSRP of $40,250 for the base C 300 Sedan model.

10. 2018 Infiniti Q50

Infiniti is an affordable luxury brand, and its Q50 is one of the best luxury sedans on the market right now. The new models are equipped with direct adaptive steering, intelligent all-wheel drive, 6 drive mode settings, and also moving object detection with the Around View Monitor system. Add that to the fact that it has a stylishly modern interior, and the $35,200 MSRP is completely worth it.
