Which 2017 Toyota Avalon Is For You?

The Toyota Avalon is an affordable, great-looking full-sized car. It’s spacious, with very competitive features for the cost. The Avalon offers different tiers of comfort, safety, and performance. This guide can help you figure out what you need, whether it’s the basic XLE or the high-end Limited.

XLE

The Toyota Avalon XLE starts at $33,300 and is the perfect sedan for a family or a safe, daily drive to work. It uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine that gets 268 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. The mileage is around21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

The exterior doesn’t have anything too spectacular, but does include heated power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators so you can have better visibility and be seen much easier by other drivers. The inside features Entune Audio Plus with Connected Navigation App, which has eight speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, audio jack, advanced voice recognition, and USB ports. The XLE also includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel and leather-trimmed heated front seats.

As mentioned before, the Avalon XLE is incredibly safe since nearly every model from this manufacturer comes with Toyota Safety Sense. This package includes a pre-collision with pedestrian detection, lane departure alerts with steering assist, automatic high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control.

XLE Plus

The XLE Plus starts at $35,050 and is equipped with the same engine as the XLE. Why the extra price? More features! The XLE Plus adds a moonroof with sliding sunshade on the exterior and upgrades the interior to include a Smart Key System on the front doors and trunk. Additionally, the XLE Plus integrates Push Button Start and remote illuminated entry.

The XLE Plus also has a hybrid option for $37,300 with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder ECVT engine. The hybrid can get up to 40 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. Other than the engine, the hybrid doesn’t feature anything new when compared to the regular XLE Plus.

XLE Premium

The XLE Premium has a small price increase to $36,500, and makes a few additions - though perhaps not as many as it could for the cost. The biggest difference with the XLE Premium is the addition of Entune Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation and App Suite. This includes nine speakers, HD radio, predictive traffic and Doppler weather overlay, and three months of free SiriusXM. The Entune app suite that comes included is subscription-free, which is nice.

Like the XLE Plus, the Premium also has a hybrid option. The higher-end hybrid uses the same engine, so it still gets 40 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. There aren’t really any extra features beyond than the gas-saving eco-friendliness, which can be yours starting at $38,750.

Touring

For a starting price of $37,700, the Touring brings an ever-so-slightly sportier ride to the table. It rolls on 18-inch wheels, sports LED headlights and taillights, and has unique visual flair like a piano-black grille insert and unique black wood-grain-style trim with smoked-chrome interior accents. The Touring does not come in a hybrid option.

Limited

The highest-end Avalon is the Limited, which has a starting MSRP of $41,100. Since it’s the top tier, it includes everything you could want from your sedan. The exterior adds high-intensity discharge headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Passengers will also find a more comfortable cabin with the inclusion of three-zone climate control even in the rear seat and Entune Premium JBL Audio with Integrated Navigation, which provides 11 JBL GreenEdge speakers in nine locations including a subwoofer and amplifier. The Limited also has a hybrid option available for $42,600.
