The Toyota Avalon is an affordable, great-looking full-sized car that's been completely redesigned for the 2019 model year. It’s spacious, with very competitive features for the cost.
The Avalon offers different tiers of comfort, safety, and performance. This guide can help you figure out what you need, whether it’s the basic Avalon XLE or high-end Avalon Limited.
XLE
The 2019 Toyota Avalon XLE starts at $33,300 and is the perfect sedan for a family or a safe, daily drive to work. It uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine that gets 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. The mileage is around 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
The exterior doesn’t have anything too spectacular but does include heated power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators so you can have better visibility and be seen much easier by other drivers. The inside features Entune Audio Plus with Connected Navigation App, which has eight speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, audio jack, advanced voice recognition, and USB ports. The XLE also includes a leather-trimmed steering wheel and leather-trimmed heated front seats.
As mentioned before, the Avalon XLE is incredibly safe since nearly every model from this manufacturer comes with Toyota Safety Sense. This package includes a pre-collision with pedestrian detection, lane departure alerts with steering assist, automatic high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control.
The Avalon XLE also has a hybrid option for $36,500 with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder ECVT engine. The hybrid can get up to 43 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway. Other than the engine, the hybrid model doesn’t feature anything new when compared to the regular XLE Plus.
XSE
The 2019 Toyota Avalon XSE starts at $38,00 and is equipped with the same engine as the Avalon XLE. Oddly enough, the highway fuel economy drops slightly to 31 mpg from 32 mpg.
Why the extra price? More features! The Avalon XSE adds a moonroof with sliding sunshade. Also on the exterior are piano black accents and a rear spoiler to complete the look. There is also a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch black-painted machined-finish alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, drivers will find genuine aluminum interior trim as well as paddle shifters and aluminum pedal covers.
The Avalon XSE also has a hybrid option for $39,000. The EPA gives the hybrid engine a fuel economy rating of 43 mpg for both city and highway driving. Otherwise, features remain the same between the hybrid and non-hybrid models.
Touring
For a starting price of $42,200, the 2019 Toyota Avalon Touring brings an ever-so-slightly sportier ride to the table. It rolls on 19-inch wheels, and sports LED headlights and taillights with smoked chrome bezels and an on/off feature. The Avalon Touring model also features a sportier ride with adaptive variable suspension. The exterior also has piano-black accents and a rear spoiler. The engine feature sound enhancement with active noise control.
Speaking of noise, the interior features an Entune 3.0 Premium Audio system. The JBL with Clari-FI system has 14 speakers, and the infotainment system has dynamic navigation and an app suite. The Avalon Touring does not come in a hybrid model.
Limited
The highest-end Avalon is the Limited, which has a starting MSRP of $41,800. That's actually cheaper than the Avalon Touring trim! Since it’s the top tier, it includes everything you could want from your sedan. The 2019 Toyota Avalon Limited adds high-intensity discharge headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers to the exterior.
Passengers will also find a more comfortable cabin with the inclusion of three-zone climate control, even in the rear seat. This trim also features the same 14-speaker Entune 3.0 Premium Audio system from the Avalon Touring. Heated and ventilated front seats are standard as is genuine wood interior trim throughout the cabin.
The Avalon Limited also has a hybrid model available for $42,800 with the same features as the non-hybrid model. It has the same 43 mpg city/highway fuel economy rating as the Avalon XSE Hybrid.
