Every Major Automobile Recall in 2024, Thus Far

Driving an automobile, as convenient and necessary as it may be for most of us, is not without its risks. Each year, thousands of vehicles are recalled over manufacturing errors that could pose a danger to you, your family or others out on the road.

When it comes to your safety, you should never mess around. It’s important to stay on top of the latest recalls to ensure your vehicle is safe to drive. By law, automakers are required to fix these issues free of charge.

With that said, here are some of the biggest recalls of the year that you should be aware of!

Ford Power Steering Recall

Ford Power Steering Recall

Ford has recalled over 16,500 of its 2021-2022 E-350 and E-450 models equipped with dual rear wheels. In these vehicles, the connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake hydroboost unit can result in leakage of the power steering fluid.

This issue can result in the loss of functionality regarding the steering and brake assist features, ultimately increasing the risk of a crash. Drivers will need to take their vehicle to their Ford dealer to replace the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line.

GM Tailgate Recall

GM Tailgate Recall

GM has recalled nearly 820,000 cars due to a safety issue affecting its power-operated tailgates. The tailgate switch of their Silverado and Sierra trucks may short circuit when coming into contact with water.

Water intrusion into the electronic latching mechanism can result in the tailgate unlatching while the vehicle is in park. Thus far, there have been 130 complaints of this happening, and so a recall has been issued on select pickups manufactured between 2020 and 2024.

The following vehicles have been recalled:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500
  • GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500
